The market rate for a Chief AI Officer is $120K–$240K base, plus benefits, equity, and a year-long commitment. The AI Office of the CEO engagement is $25K–$60K fixed for the 90-day build, with an optional $3K–$8K monthly retainer thereafter. You get a system you own, not a salary you'll renew every year.

Days 1–14

Diagnose

  • Operations audit. We map every recurring process across sales, marketing, ops, and back office.
  • AI-replaceable work scorecard. Every process ranked by automation upside and risk.
  • Stakeholder interviews with you and any direct reports.
  • Deliverable: a written roadmap with the 5–8 highest-ROI automations and their projected dollar impact.
Days 15–60

Build

  • Deploy your customized Expert AI Labs control plane (Supabase, n8n, monitoring) configured for your workflows.
  • Wire up integrations to the tools you already use: JobNimbus, CompanyCam, QuickBooks, Slack, Google Workspace, your CRM.
  • Build the agreed-upon AI workflows end-to-end. Lead intake, document drafting, customer follow-up, reporting.
  • Weekly executive working session to review what shipped and tune what's next.
Days 61–90

Launch & embed

  • Train your team on the live system. Every session is recorded for the runbook library.
  • Document every workflow with clear ownership and escalation paths.
  • Establish the operational scorecard you'll use to monitor AI output going forward.
  • Roll into the ongoing monthly retainer so we stay in the room as you scale.

How is this different from hiring a fractional CAIO?

A fractional CAIO is one person renting their hours to think with you. The AI Office of the CEO is a productized, fixed-price 90-day engagement that ships a working system you own at the end of it. You get strategic leadership during the build, but you walk away with software, not a slide deck.

What does the system actually look like at the end?

A multi-tenant control plane with the AI workflows you agreed to in the diagnosis phase, running on infrastructure we deploy and you own. Full access to the v1 API, signed webhooks for downstream integration, and a dashboard your team uses daily.

Do we have to use your platform?

The 90-day engagement deploys on the Expert AI Labs control plane because that's how we ship in 90 days. After launch, the system is yours. Most customers keep us on retainer for ongoing optimization, but you're free to run it yourself or move to another vendor. We don't lock customers in.

What does it cost?

Engagements run from $25,000 to $60,000 depending on the number of workflows in scope and the complexity of integrations. We share a fixed price after the diagnosis phase, before any build work begins. Optional ongoing support retainer ranges $3,000–$8,000 per month.

What if it doesn't work?

We define success criteria together at the end of the diagnosis phase. If we don't hit those criteria by Day 90, we extend the engagement at our cost until we do. We have not had to invoke that clause yet, but it's there.

Who delivers the engagement?

Engagements are led by the founder personally and supported by the Expert AI Labs platform team. You get one named partner from Day 1 through Day 90 and beyond. Not a pod, not a rotating account team.
